ASTM C635 classifies grid suspension systems into Light-Duty, Intermediate-Duty, and Heavy-Duty load classes based on the maximum load the main runners can carry without sagging more than L/360 of the span. EN 13964 focuses on bending resistance, load carrying capacity, durability, and corrosion resistance class (from Class A to Class D based on environmental exposure). Hot-dip galvanization applies a layer of zinc over steel. The zinc acts as a barrier and a sacrificial anode. Even if the surface is scratched during installation, the zinc corrodes first to protect the underlying steel core. For standard dry environments, a Z120 coating weight is sufficient. For humid areas like bathrooms, indoor pools, or coastal regions, we recommend Z275 coatings to prevent rust and extend the lifespan of the framing.

CAC (Ceiling Attenuation Class) measures the panel's ability to block sound from traveling through a shared ceiling plenum to an adjacent room. For quiet offices, a high NRC reduces background noise, while a high CAC (above 35) blocks sound transmission between private rooms.
